Travis Ayers CPFS

Northeast Regional Manager

Travis is man in Active and Sustained Recovery and he has not used any drugs or alcohol in almost six years, since November 18, 2016. Travis spent over 20 years in active addiction that finally ended when he was involved in a traffic accident and crashed his semi-truck through a building on Main Street in Sterling Colorado. Travis describes that accident as “the turning point in his life that led him to long-term recovery”.

Travis’ experiences in early recovery included being an inmate at Logan County Jail, serving a Community Corrections sentence with a few years of probation. He also attended an out-patient treatment program and during all these experiences he searched for a community of like-minded individuals who offer support to each other for the purpose of recovery.

Travis joined the AFR Colorado staff as full-time peer recovery coach in April 2020. Since then, he has worked with both individuals and family members in private and group coaching sessions. He has worked with over 300  people so far in Logan County.

Travis uses his “Recovery Voice” to advocate for people living in rural areas of Colorado to have better access to recovery. He currently participates on the Opioid Settlement Funds Committee of Logan County, serves as a Board Member at the Sterling Baseball Organization, and is a Deacon for the Men’s Ministry at his church. His vision is to continue to help others find and maintain recovery, and to grow with AFR Colorado to best serve the Rural Recovery Community in the northeast region of our state.
