Authenticity – We promote genuine peer-to-peer connection in communities across Colorado. Our work is led by people with lived experience who authentically represent their own and respect every individual’s pathway of recovery.
Empowerment - We recognize that empowerment is critical to the recovery process. We empower our participants to find and use their voice in their recovery journey by fostering self-determination, tenacity, hope and joy.
Equity - We believe all Coloradans have the right to equitable access to wellness and justice. We advocate for the availability of services that afford all people dignity and humanity, while working to eliminate structural inequities and other barriers to recovery.
Inclusivity - We celebrate and support all pathways and stages of recovery. We offer an inclusive, non-judgmental and accepting environment, welcoming the diversity and lived experiences of all participants.
Integrity -We provide highly ethical, authentic, and quality peer-to-peer services adhering to the organization's mission and recovery support best practices. We are responsive and accountable to our participants, funders, and the Colorado recovery community.
Service - Servant leadership is the cornerstone of our peer-led recovery support, advocacy, and education efforts. We partner with our participants and collaborate with other community organizations to provide and expand services statewide.
Advocates for Recovery Colorado is made up of people who are focused on the solution of recovery.
AFRC is more than just a non-profit organization; it's a Recovery Community Organization (RCO). Founded in 2001 by a group of dedicated individuals, AFRC is a grassroots, peer-run organization comprised of people from across the state united by a common focus on recovery solutions rather than the challenges of addiction. We are committed to providing recovery support and resources to individuals navigating the often challenging road of recovery. Our journey began with the understanding that recovery extends beyond the cessation of substance use. We believe in the power of community, peer recovery support, and a solution-oriented approach.

Putting a face and a voice on recovery:

Advocacy for the Colorado Recovery Community:
AFRC advocates for the rights and needs of the recovery community in Colorado, working towards creating a more inclusive and supportive societal framework.
Peer recovery support services:
AFRC offers a range of peer recovery support services, including individual and group peer coaching, assistance to affected families, hosting All Recovery Meetings, and organizing recovery-focused social activities.
Through these initiatives, AFRC strives to build resilient and empowered communities where individuals in recovery can connect and thrive.

The Aspen Leaf featured in the Advocates for Recovery Colorado logo is a powerful symbol drawn from the Aspen Grove, a natural phenomenon where a community of trees grows from a shared root system. Much like the Aspen Grove, AFRC thrives through the collective efforts of its community, who, like runners from the root system, spread the message of recovery.
