Michaela Israel
Peer Recovery Coach
My name is Michaela Israel, and I am a Peer Recovery Coach in the Sterling office of Advocates for Recovery Colorado. I am a person in active and sustained long-term recovery and what that means to me is I have been clean and sober for 3.5 years. Recovery has given me hope and the ability to be a mom again. I now have full custody of my son Cooper and I wouldn't have been able to do that without my recovery. Advocates for Recovery Colorado changed my life. When I walked into Travis's office, he empowered me to determine what I wanted my Recovery to look like. I live out my Recovery in every aspect of my life. It motivates me to constantly be a better person and continue to work on myself. Recovery also inspires me to love others and help them find the hope I have found. I am so grateful to have rediscovered parts of me I had lost in active use. I am a huge Denver Broncos fan and now I get to watch the game every week with my family. I am part of an awesome podcast community where I have met so many people who are supportive of Recovery. The best thing about my life now is I get to advocate for those who can’t advocate for themselves. I get to give a face and voice to Recovery
