Peer Recovery Coach
Ralph Hanna, 68 years young, lives in Aurora, and has been working at Advocates for Recovery Colorado in Aurora since July 2021. Ralph has been in sustained recovery since 1986, motivated by his religious beliefs. Ralph’s recovery has been an ongoing process of family, friends and interacting with various groups of such as Celebrating Recovery, CAC Training, working within the clinical side of Detox for the Aurora Mental Health as a Peer Recovery Coach, and Behavioral Health for three years as a Peer Specialist. Ralph started recovery-related work back in 1972 where he worked for the Veteran’s Administration (15) yrs., as a Behavioral Specialist. Recovery for Ralph has been an awareness, understanding of self-care and connection with those who are like-minded. As a peer, Ralph has mentored people to the floor of the Colorado State Board of Mental Health with Andrew Romanoff with testimonies of Peer effectiveness and compassion. Ralph was born in Waukegan Il., (Little Fort). One of (9) nine siblings, three loving daughters Tamara Hanna, author, Kershauna Hanna, entrepreneur who lives in Waukegan ,II and Edna (retired) who lives in Colorado Springs, Co, and one son Gary, who lives in Des Moines, Iowa. Ralph has a Theological Degree from Emmaus Bible College, Evangelist Ordination from Salvation Army, as well being the President of The Midwestern District of the State of Colorado in The Church of God in Christ. Ralph has volunteered in the State of Colorado and Wyoming Department of Corrections for over 30 years, mentoring offenders from DOC who have become successful in their life’s journey after incarceration (100 %, no recidivism). Ralph has been under the tutelage of such greats as Charles J. Chaput, Benson Idahosa, the late Miles Monroe, as well as George Nuevirth, holocaust survivor. Ralph has been in sobriety for over (30) years and gives credit to GOD, recovery minded persons and the ability to make sound decisions.
