Tonya Wheeler CPFS - Executive Director

A woman in active and sustained recovery since 1990. Tonya has been with Advocates for Recovery Colorado since its inception in 2001 and was named the organization’s first Executive Director in 2009.


James Gannon CPFS - Director of Programs

James found AFRC in 2012 when he begain his recovery journey as a participant and a volunteer. In 2017 James became a full time peer recovery coach and for the past four years he has been the Director of Programs.


Sean Gartrell, CPFS - Director of Training

Sean has been with Advocates for Recovery Colorado since 2021. Sean started with AFRC as a Peer Recovery Coach before stepping into his current role as Director of Training.

Vanessa found Advocates for Recovery Colorado in 2021, completed her Peer Recovery Coach Training with AFRC in 2022, and moved into her current role as a member of the AFRC team in October 2023.


Erin joined the AFRC community in February 2023 and the staff in August of 2023.
